Hopes and Dreams in Times Square

So I was strolling through Times Square not too long ago when I happened across the Times Square Visitor Center. My initial though was that this might be a good place to encounter a less-than-repulsive bathroom to use. And I was correct.

But there was also a LOT more to check out.

On display inside is the actual Times Square Waterford Crystal Ball, dropped on New Years’ Eve in 2002. And you can walk right up to this thing and see inside it. It’s actually pretty cool.

But what really caught my attention was this wall of wishes and dreams:

You can request a small piece of scrap paper upon which to write your wish. And after being displayed here in the Visitors Center until December, your paper will be mixed in with the confetti dropped this New Years’ Eve.

Some of these papers said things like: “Please let me find true love this year,” or “I really want to be discovered.” Others were just out and out cries of desperation for things to change, mixed in what could only be understood to be prayers. Prayers somehow made more solemn and permanent by being recorded on paper and dropped into the crowd on New Years Eve.

I know we’re a ways from December 31st, but it got me thinking.

Are you dreaming big – for His glory and not for yours? What are you asking God for today? What “impossible” things are you asking Him to accomplish?
