Best 80′s Phrase Ever?

Ok Gang,

It's pretty obvious by now that a high percentage of True North attendees and (presumably) a high percentage of The Right Thing readers truly do love the 80's.

The  I Love the 80's Series has brought us more positive feedback than maybe anything else we've ever done.

Now, for the record, we need a vote on best word or phrase from the 80's.

Mint? Rad? Fresh?

Gag me with a spoon?  I pity the fool?

Bring it on, team.  Sound off and tell us your favorite word or phrase from the 80's, then join us in a passionate campaign to re-insert it into our cultural lexicon.

My personal favorite:   "Nice Head"

Which is defined by the urban dictionary thusly:

Nice Head:

An expression used after a friend says something particularly stupid,
potentially by accident, and does not realize it. However, it must be
brought to the friend's attention in the form of light-hearted
ridicule.  For example:

"I think that I injured my trapezoid muscle at the gym last night."

"Do you mean your trapezius muscle?"

"Oh yeah"

        "Nice head!"

Got a favorite word or phrase from the 80's?  Leave me some commentary love.

Charity: Did you say Mouse Trap???

R.R : No, no my dear. Mouse TAIL. That’s Mouse TAIL. Read my lips!!! We’d like to offer you a lifetime contrap.

C : Did you say “contrap”?

R.R : No, no my dear. ConTRACT, my dear. ConTRACT!!! Read my lips. Just take this pen, my sweet and sign on the dotted line.

C : Why thank you. I’m flattered. I’ll sign my name right now!

CHURCHMOUSE CHOIR STARTS SINGING THE WARNING SONG

Joey says:

For those of us who spent their early childhood years in the ’80s — and lived in super-conservative Christian homes — Psalty the Singing Songbook was an overwhelmingly apparent part of our young lives lol. Sure, I watched Sesame Street, The Smurfs, Double Dare, Mr. Rogers, and all that fun stuff. But I think I can speak for a bunch of my church friends when I say I can recite almost every word off many of Psalty’s records and videotapes. (See, mine was one of those families that went on vacation to Heritage USA [Jim Bakker's place], listened to Sandi Patti, Amy Grant, Wayne Watson, and Leon Patillo, preferred The Gospel Bill Show over MTV, and shunned most movies and worldly “rock” music. Without the ’80s series at True North, I would be completely out of the loop. It’s sad. We lived in bubbles.)
Oh, and the lines I posted are from Kids Praise! 4: Singsational Servants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kids_Praise_4 ; http://psaltyskidsstore.stores.yahoo.net/bpr4sise1.html ), known as the album and video that introduced Charity Churchmouse.
You could do a whole series based on ’80s Christian culture — because it was often so distant from mainstream culture lol.

statements on t shirts was the way to go in the 80′s “Frankie says relax”.. I think I’ll wear my “I’m what Willis was talkin’ about” shirt tomorrow

Bert says:

Ok Joey… I’m just going to come right out with this.
I have absolutely no idea on the earth what you are talking about.
I consider myself a but of an ’80′s scholar, but nothing in the above quote comes even close to ringing a bell.
Sorry bro.
Please to explain.

Joey says:

Sorry…. Not exactly a phrase … but a way of life. =)

Joey says:

How ’bout this:
“Well hellooo, Charity! Yes, hello, hello, indeed! I’ve heard about YOU, Charity Churchmouse, yes, indeed! Your fame has preceded you. I’m Risky Rat from Mouse Trap Records!”
“Did you say Mouse TRAP?!!”
“No, no, my dear, Mouse TAIL, that’s Mouse TAIL! Read my lips!”
Who else knows every word? =)

Dan says:

Where’s the BEEF?!!!
Classic. The 80′s, good times!

Kerry says:

It’s from Jem and the Holigrams.

Bert says:

What was “truly TRULY outrageous” from?
It sounds familiar but I can’t place it!

Bert says:

Wow. Fast Times at Ridgemont High was a class 80′s movie. Very racy, but a great snapshot of the decade.
Cameron Crowe is the man.
And I must admit, Jeff Spicoli was my role model for a year or two there. :)
Bodacious!!!

Kerry says:

I still use “And now you know, and knowing is half the battle” and refer to things as “truly, truly, TRULY outragious”

Cynthia Coletti says:

How about “Narly”? I first heard this in one of my favorite movies, “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.”
AHHH..the cheesey ’80′s. I can remember being up during the night feeding my third infant child, watching MTV when it really played videos..Duran, Duran, Men at Work, Golden Earring, Aha, Patty Smyth etc. I love that music, even though I am older than that generation…I am more from the late 60′s and 70′s “feelin’ groovey” generation.
LOVE the 80′s sermon series so far…almost as much as the U2 series, LOL!
Maybe one day you’ll do a Back to the 70′s series???
Peace, Man
